Yelgun to Chinderah was the biggest rural project then being undertaken by RTA, NSW and was a design/construct/maintain contract on the Pacific Highway valued at approximately $350M

 

It was successfully managed by PES for a final consultancy fee of $2.93M (0.85%) between 1999 and 2004.

Broad statistics for the Yelgun to Chinderah project were:

  • 28.5 km long, dual carriageway rural freeway construction.

  • In excess of 1,000,000 m3 of cut-to-fill earthworks, with 200,000 m3 of selected material.

  • 130,000 m3 of concrete base.

  • Interchanges at Cudgera Creek Road, Clothiers Creek Road, and Oak Avenue.

  • Bridges over various creeks along the proposed alignment, including Crabbes Creek, Burringbar Creek, Cudgera Creek, Christies Creek, and Clothiers Creek.

  • Underpass and overpass structures for retention of local access as well as fauna access.

  • A 120 metre long tunnel structure beneath Cudgen Road, with state-of-the-art electronic survey and warning systems included.
