This project, valued at $60 M (contract only) consisted of a 1,200 m long crossing of the Murrumbidgee River and flood plain.

 

 

 



    • This project, valued at $60 M (contract only) consisted of a 1,200 m long crossing of the Murrumbidgee River and flood plain and associated dual carriageway Hume Highway approaches, at Gundagai south western NSW.

    • The river crossing bridge was a three span balanced cantilever structure. The adjoining floodplain bridge consisted a 27 x 40 m span prestressed I beam structure in linked slabs designed in groups of 6 span trestles.

    • The road works consisted on regrading and re-paving the existing 2 lane northbound carriageway of the Hume Highway and the construction of a new 2 lane southbound carriageway utilising flexible pavements and deeplift AC.



 

 











    • The project has gone on to win National awards for construction excellence in National Infrastructure Building.

    • As a consequence of the overall success of the project, the design team/construction team and site supervision team were recently invited to speak at the IQPC's Bridges Australia Conference 2010 in Brisbane.

    • The project has been recognised both within the RTA and in the greater construction industry as a very successful project amalgamating excellent aspects of design, construction and co-operative and efficient site management.
